Cyber Security & Payment Security
At World Class Conveyancing, protecting our clients' personal information and funds is a priority. Unfortunately, cybercrime targeting property transactions is becoming increasingly sophisticated, with criminals attempting to intercept emails and alter payment instructions.
To help protect you, we recommend following the precautions below.
Payment Instructions
Where payment is required during your transaction, we may provide payment details electronically.
Before making any payment, you should always telephone our office using a trusted phone number to verbally confirm the account details you have received.
For larger transfers, we also recommend making a small test payment (for example, $1.00) and contacting our office to confirm it has been received before transferring the remaining balance.
We Will Never
To help you identify suspicious communications, please note that World Class Conveyancing will never:
- ask you to transfer funds to a different bank account without first speaking with you directly;
- ask you to urgently change payment details by email alone;
- request that you ignore our normal security procedures; or
- ask you to disclose your passwords or online banking credentials.
If you receive an email that appears unusual or contains amended payment instructions, do not transfer any funds until you have spoken with our office.
If You Suspect Fraud
If you believe you have received suspicious correspondence or may have transferred funds to an incorrect account, contact our office immediately and notify your financial institution without delay. Acting quickly provides the best opportunity to minimise any loss.
Our Commitment
We take cyber security seriously and use appropriate systems and procedures to help protect our clients' information. While we implement reasonable security measures, no email or internet-based communication can ever be guaranteed to be completely secure. For this reason, we encourage all clients to independently verify payment instructions before transferring funds.
